Veerle Ritstier
Mixed Media
Wood, acrylic, clay

17 D x 32H cm

Description

During and after her education in phytotherapy Veerle made several paintings about the healing power of plants. Subject was de relationship between organs and their botanical beneficial, visualized per plant. The medicinal use on certain organs (or body parts like skin) illustrated in a contemporary composition. To extend her body of work, with using her skills in sculptural work, Veerle decided to make a sculpture where her interests in botanical powers, (symbioses in) nature, and admiration for anatomy come together. Her sculptures exude a certain surrealism. An almost alien environment, where the interior becomes exterior, and endangered or even extinct wildlife coexist with human evolution.
