With a lot of my works I want to give the spectator a feeling of alienation. As if you’re stepping into a alternate dimension where humans and nature live in harmony. A symbiosis; sometimes erotic, sometimes plain bizarre. In this painting I merged two bodies who were allegedly having sex. They end up as some sort of conjoined-twin-like creature with a iridescent skin. The skin tones are inspired by those beautiful beetles and other insects who change color in the moving light. The female bodies are intertwined with a snake. Not only a sexual symbol, and a symbol of transformation, but in this painting also representing energy. The snake is about to bite his tail – about to close the circle of eternity. Just like the famous mythological snake Ouroboros.
